Adapted from the nationally-acclaimed novel by Eric Rickstad, Reap brings to the screen the story of a boy’s abrupt arrival into manhood through a harrowing rite of passage. Jessup Burke, a naïve 16-year old who is obsessed with the drowning of his father, falls in with Reg Cumber, a charismatic rogue fresh out of prison for the harvesting marijuana.
Driven by loneliness and tempted by the promise of money, Jessup is unwittingly lured into Reg’s claustrophobic world of bad blood, desperation and revenge. As Jessup grows entangled in Reg’s world, he is exposed to secrets, lies and hard truths about his past, the town, and his father. Soon it is clear just how haunted by the past each person is, and how each must reap the consequences of the choices they make. Swept up in a relentless flood of circumstances that culminate in an act of violence, Jessup and those around him will not escape unscathed.
